When Trayon Angelo Baksh puts paintbrush to easel, magic happens. This amazing artist better known as Tray Arts has been creating masterpieces since he first began drawing at the age of five. On Wednesday night Twilight Family Restaurant & Bar came to life as Tray Arts showcased his talents during a live painting event! The night was nothing short of colourful as the crowd watched him recreate a portrait of the late “A Tribe Called Quest” rapper Phife Dawg. In addition to that, patrons also enjoyed beautiful henna tattoos, giveaways and great music by DJ Socasweetness himself.

“I started drawing when I was five and only started painting for a school project. My very first painting was an oil painting of a girl on the beach, it took me two weeks to finish. My greatest motivation to paint is the idea of bringing something to life,” says Baksh.

This talented individual was born in Guyana in a village called Ann’s Grove. Although this self proclaimed country boy now calls Scarborough home, he has managed to stay close to his roots and visits Guyana once a year.

“Growing up no one realized I could paint and I never really let anyone know. My parents never wanted me to paint, everyone was saying only girls paint. Guyana is a place for me to escape, when I go back home I go to relax,” says Baksh.

Painting is a universal form of art that is meant to awaken the senses as well as the mind. Tray Arts is a self taught artist who has managed to channel his artistic passion into creating pieces that inspire and tell stories. In addition to his creative flare he is also versatile and thinks outside of the box.  Come out and let his art speak for itself at his next event “creARTivity” on June 11, 2016 at 25 Cecil Street. This all white affair will begin at 7pm and includes an evening of art, dancing and of course dinner.
