Canada’s image of being a country of equality and opportunity should be called into question

BY PAUL BAILEY

The current chaos affecting the military is nothing new. It is just, like most acts of deception, biased recruiting and favouritism promotion, reaping the plants of those vile seeds sowed and it is reflected in industry, institutions and even in government culture.

Void of diversity, equity and inclusion at the tactical and strategic levels under the “perceived notion” that paper education from higher, more expensive institutions automatically qualified students as being smart and intelligent, able to make and carry out practical and strategic decisions. There are large cultures of: racism, sexism, discrimination, and favouritism of masculine culture within institutions that are being played out for the easily controlled and steadfast supporters to see for themselves.

Despite the obvious, the sad reality is that nothing much of anything is really expected to change. This is not because people’s eyes and minds are closed, it is more because their hearts are missing, cold and void of humility and true humanity that they preach and support in open spaces, but do not adhere to in private.

Canada’s image of being a country of equality and opportunity should be called into question, but just like the corrupt police departments, government ministers who lie and steal from their own departments and the trusting, tax paying citizens, many are free to just walk away and resign from their jobs and positions without recourse or penalties. This is because not true accountability can take place when the perpetrators are also represented and defended by the same institutions they are guilty of stealing from.

These are failures; financial, societal, institutional and government failures which exists at the brain, flows downstream to the vetting (recruiting) process, where seeds of favouritism, sexism, racism, and discrimination exists. For the defence department to openly state that this recent revelation shows that the system is actively working is foolish and shows ignorance of what justifies true and transparent leadership and governance.

The vetting process is riddled with holes and its leaders and supporters should be ashamed and embarrassed.
