Everything good must come to an end

BY SABRINA S. – 14 YEARS OLD

Have you ever moved houses? There is a strange number of feelings that come and leave you in the process of moving homes.

First, the excitement, when hearing the good news about your new home awaiting your move, your excitement builds up. Next comes the stress, you still need to visit different homes to pick one and make it yours. Packing away your items and prized possessions with care can also seem very pressurizing. More excitement builds up inside you when you’ve found your new home and have already moved most of your stuff. Last comes the sadness, saying goodbye to the shelter that kept you warm and safe, saying goodbye to your neighbors, saying goodbye to every single place you’ve had fun at within your neighborhood, this can make anyone a mess. It’s hard saying goodbye, but everything good must come to an end at one point.

One might think this roller-coaster of emotions is over when you move into your new place, you’d be mistaken.

The feelings come back once again.

Excitement, you’re excited to stay in this home for what seems forever. You’re excited to sleep in your brand new, hard-earned home for the first time. Stress, excitement must end when you realize you have to unpack and place everything in their designated spots, you need to decide which furniture you have to buy and where it all goes. This stress of re-building a safe place is astronomical.

The second round of excitement builds up when you’ve unpacked and settled yourself in this home. Everything looks great and you can’t wait to invite your friends over.

Sadness hits when you stay in your home long enough to find flaws. Things go wrong when everything starts to break and suddenly nothing is new anymore.

It is stressful but you are your home.
