This week might’ve been really boring for you but there were a lot of things going on in Canada
Allow me to tell you about what happened recently.
Canada is getting ready to give the Covid vaccine to kids aged 5-11. I already got both doses of my Pfizer vaccine last summer right before school ended. I was a little sore but now I feel better than ever.
There was a flood in B.C. This flood happened earlier this week and it could be Canada’s most costly disaster. This disaster took place in the Fraser Village area, destroying billions of dollars’ worth of structures. Eleven more people were rescued overnight as forty residents refused to leave their homes.
Fines could now reach $57K with new penalties for breaking N.S. gathering rules. People and organizations that host gatherings in Nova Scotia that ignore public health orders will now face steep monetary penalties. The province announced Thursday morning that a new category of offence will see organizers held directly responsible for contravening the Health Protection Act.
The announcement comes after a religious gathering in late October resulted in transmission of COVID-19 that spread to various areas of the province and caused the deaths of three people. The pastor of the church that organized the multi-day gathering was fined $2,422 in connection with the gathering. “I don’t want any more loved ones being lost due to this type of reckless behaviour,” Premier Tim Houston said in a news release.
Skygazers are in for a treat overnight between Thursday and Friday, when much of the planet will be able to see the longest partial lunar eclipse in almost 600 years.
